I had so many great conversations with Don in the Health Club at the downtown YMCA, especially about travel. He knew many parts of the world very well and loved to share highlights of the trips he and Margot took to seemingly exotic destinations. Margot, please accept my sincere condolences on Don’s passing.

I met Don in 1978 at Carleton University. We were in the same residence. Several years later we were both living in Toronto. I had been in a car accident and was in the hospital, and Don came to visit me. I was disoriented and exhausted and in pain. Don spent some time with me and just talked to me. He didn’t ask any questions or expect any contributions to the conversation. I remember how comforting his visit was. He distracted me, but he wasn’t shocked by my appearance and he didn’t expect anything from me. He knew just what I needed. He has left this world too soon.

Deepest sympathy to Don's family and friends. Pray you will be comforted by loving memories of a vibrant and caring husband, father, relative and friend. I met Don in 1975 at Carleton and though we only connected sporadically, he was someone you could always count on to be upbeat, interested and easy to catch up with. The world is a dimmer place without him.

My condolences to all of Don’s family. I never saw anyone wear a tux better than he, and his quick intellect and humour was impressive. I’m glad I got to know him.
