I enjoyed his friendly emails. I don't think I met Rick in person. Enjoyed reading this note from the past again today in thinking of Rick. SO much like him!

Dear Derrel & Anne, Marla, Annelle & David and your extended families,
We can hardly grasp your feeling of loss these days, and our thoughts of love and care go out to you all… We are thankful we can trust God’s timing, and the hope that we have through Jesus. We were fortunate to have Rick in our home for a Sunday am meeting in conv prep season this year. We can reflect back on his enthusiasm for life and for God’s way that was so very evident again that morning! Our loss will be heaven’s gain. ❤️

Our thoughts and prayers are with you the family in a special way.It was shocking to hear Rick's sudden death. Few times he came to India for convs. And I went to b'desh for convs 2016. He was a very special brother to us. His brotherly loving care and kindness he showed was much appreciated. We miss him alot but there is a hope that oneday we will meet him. Our dear Derrel, Anne and family.....Covid had many negatives during the last 2 1/2 years....but it also had many positives! It gave us a special time with Rick when he came home and he quarantined in our home!! We always loved Rick, but we got to get to know him even more as we had the privilege of spending more time with him!!! He had a true love for everyone! Bryce has special memories of time spent fishing with him, talking about the things that matter most in life and sharing lots of laughs together too! I will always remember his kind, understanding heart as I struggled with my health! We love him very much and are missing him greatly!!!! We keep you close in our hearts as you mourn the loss of your son and brother! There is a great comfort as we know Heaven will be rejoicing!

I’ll remember Rick for making us laugh one minute with his pranks and cry the next with a heartfelt message from God through Rick’s heart. I’ll remember him for his great love of souls, especially those in Bangladesh where I first met him. I’ll remember him leading us unerringly through the alleys and byways of Dhaka, all of us visitors following behind like ducklings, to the home where we would share fellowship. Very saddened to hear of the sudden death of Brother Rick. You will know that Rick was a special friend to all of us and will be missed by all especially those here that he came in contact with. Rick loved the souls of many. To see him love the many souls in Bangladesh was profound. He was always a good listening ear. He loved to make random people smile and laugh. He is greatly missed - his influence and example will live on… Eldon and Jelaine Larson

Special memories as Rick was in our area many years ago. Our kids, especially the youngest, loved Rick because he was fun, happy, joked and did cool ‘magic tricks’. He leaves a legacy of positivity, kindness and his laugh & ready smile will stay in many hearts.

I first met Rick in Pakistan many years ago. Then later, many times, in Bangladesh. Fond memories of him getting me to fellowship meetings through the crowded streets of Dhaka. I only met Rick once in 2019 when I had 24 hours in Dhaka. True to form, Rick and Jason met me with coffees in hand, and Rick cleverly sweet-talked the security guards into opening locked doors and waving us past security scanners in the airport to help me track down my lost luggage. The local people were always in awe of Rick's impeccable grasp (and lack of accent) of the Bangla language. We had the best day meeting the local families, bartering for some fresh fruit, and gathering for a gospel meeting that night. Thankful for my little window of opportunity to know this special, faithful soul.
