John Frazier Chaney
Brigitte and I and our sons had the privilege of knowing John for part of his long and interesting life, thanks to living on the same crescent in Hillsdale. John and Betsy, like John and Elena earlier, were neighbours of the best kind, friendly and hospitable in every way. John came to know our interests, and kindly made over the magazines “World of wheels, Canada’s auto magazine.” Being an expatriate like myself, John was equally kind in giving me his read copies of “Realm”, “Majesty”, “This England” and other reading materials which he knew I would like.
We remember Betsy’s kindness too. Your altruism in comforting Brigitte when she was in the grip of a bout of depression was much appreciated.
To you, dear Betsy, and to Elsbeth my former student, my wish is that the memory of John as a kind, caring, gentle soul bring solace and comfort to you both. For John was an inspiration to us all, and we will remember him forever.
