We were very sorry to learn only this morning of Roy's death. We first met Roy in February 1986 as we flew to northwestern Ontario to bring home our son David, who had been kidnapped from Moose Jaw the night before. Roy and Leader-Post reporter John Miner were assigned to try and join us. Both were very sensitive in covering the story, and Roy took some amazing photos. We came to consider them friends. Over the years we ran into Roy several times, and always enjoyed "catching up" with him. He was a good man.

Bev, Jon, Krista & Family - We have been following Roy's illness over the past few months and are so sorry that his health took the turn that it did. We truly enjoyed spending time with Roy when he was here in Calgary covering the 88' Winter Olympics and on other occasions over the years. Roy had a magnetic personality and one was always happy to be with him. His humour was relaxing and he was quite simply a "good guy"- happy with most things. Roy was my late wife's cousin and that connection allowed us to correspond at Christmas and other important family events, even though we were provinces apart. Roy is another great person who has left us too soon, but will certainly be sporting that contagious smile in heaven. Thank you for letting us know him - Love, Lloyd, Nicole (Rob) & Tim Vincent - Calgary

Dear Bev and family, I am deeply saddened by Roy's passing. It seems very unfair as he so looked forward to his retirement and his travel time with Bev. I have known Roy for too many years oi remember and consider myself rich by having him on my journey. He was always so kind and gentle, even when he was displeased with something. A very warm. loving and highly knowledgeable person. I know he leaves a big hole in the family and I pray this , in time, will heal over with fond memories of a great man.

Roy came and took pictures at the warehouse when we lost our jobs at Codville Co. Later that year, he was in our home taking pictures of us as the federal budget came down. Then, he took the wedding pictures at my son's wedding. He came from north of Cupar, and I from north of Dysart, so the same neck of the woods. Roy and I could talk for days, if we only had the time. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Bev and family:
How sad to know that I will never again (at least on this earth) have the chance to run into Roy and share a smile or a story. I met him at Agribition and he has always been one that I looked forward to renewing my acquaintance with as we tackled the jobs that we had taken on at the show. One of our more interesting meetings occured in the Emergency ward at the Pasqua hospital - when you were brought in, very sick, from a trip. I was occupying one of the beds in the "holding area" - so I got to see Roy without his camera and he got to see me without my backpack. I know that there are some very tough times ahead for you - a loss like that leaves a lasting mark - but I wanted to say Thank You for sharing your husband, father, and grandfather with so many of us.

I worked with Roy from 1980. I worked with him and his fellow Photogs nearly every day trying to get the exact rendering of their photos for the news paper. He was a true professional, artist and friend. He will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Garnet & Jeanette
