I just heard the sad news. Bob and I worked together for almost 13 years at the Leader Post building in Regina. He was always a gentleman, a friend and an inspiration to those that worked with him and for him and to the hundreds of thousands that read his columns. Bob was like that. The columns were his personality and even those that never met him felt like they knew him, like they were friends. That's a rare talent and a tremendous blessing to sports journalism. Rest easy my friend. You blazed a path for all to follow and a legacy to inspire us all.

Geoffrey and Ryan at times like this it is truly hard to come up with the right word to express how sad and full of sympathy one feels. I know that you were proud of your dad but always remember that your Dad was also very proud of His sons. He would get a look of great pride on his face when he talked about Geoffrey's successes and the plan of opening his own business. Ryan becoming a manager of a bar and the plans to some day having his own restaurant and bar. It is with deep sadness and a big hole in my life that I offer you my sympathy. Also to Peter and Marni and your family Bob talked of you and your kids often. I know that you all were very important to Bob. My deepest sympathy to you all. Mel Fiissel

I wish to add my tribute to Bob.I had written to him years ago and asked permission to use his column while teaching Language Arts to elementary students. He used his great sense of humour in his gracious response saying that I had his permission to use his column anyway I needed ,even if to line the bird cage. In the following years, I contacted him occasionally. His responses were prompt and humorous. He will be missed.

To Bob's family and friends,
On behalf of the Riders and myself, sincere condolences upon Bob's passing. Bob was a gifted writer whose candor, mixed with humour made his columns " must reads" while setting off many debates in Riderville. Bob was also a good friend and someone who gave back much to the community through his charity and fundraising work.
He will be missed.
