Obituary of Elsie Helen Grund

ELSIE HELEN GRUND It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elsie on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Regina, SK after a short struggle with leukemia. She was predeceased by her first husband Kenneth J. Sitter in December 1985 and by her second husband John Grund in March 2000. Elsie was also predeceased by her parents, John Selepec in 1975 and Helen (nee Raudgaber) in 1977; by three brothers, George and Edward in infancy and Johnny in May 1993; niece Sheila in 1988 and nephew Gabriel in 2004. Elsie is survived by her beloved sons, Howard and Corey Sitter of Regina SK; two sisters, Rose Bobb and Helen (Nell) Arzab of Regina; and two favorite nieces, Teresa Laplante and Haley Mary Arzab of Regina; as well as many other nieces and nephews. Elsie was born on October 29, 1938 in Melville, SK and attended St. Henry's Roman Catholic High School. She was a very independent woman who worked outside the home when it was not common to do so. Elsie had a long career as a sales clerk for Sears Canada and then as a seamstress for Pride Interiors where she met Margaret Molter, her best friend of many years. She was an excellent homemaker, skilled craftswoman and seamstress, and always the hub of her family's life. Elsie lived a full and good life, traveled with both her husbands to the West Coast and the United States. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, sister and aunt; and a loyal friend to Margaret Molter of Penticton, Rose Calwell of Surrey, B.C. and Hazel Kelsch of Saskatoon. Many thanks go to her long-time family physician Dr. Carol Geddes; cancer specialist Dr. Saleem; the nursing staff on 4A of the Pasqua Hospital and those who so gently took care of her in Regina Wascana Grace Hospice during her final days. Special thanks go to nurses Sheryl and especially to Amy, who was there in her final moments. Elsie will be greatly missed for her kind, gentle and caring ways. We were all blessed to have had Elsie in our lives. Out of respect for her wishes, there will be no public service. A private cremation and internment will follow at a later date.
