Obituary of Edward Lysyk

EDWARD “ED” LYSYK It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Edward Lysyk on Thursday, April 3, 2014. During his last moments of life he was surrounded by his family in the Cancer Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Marion; as well as his brother Mike. He leaves behind his loving wife Janet; children, Crystal (Renata), Kathy (Angus and granddaughter Norah), and Brian (Ashley); his brothers, Tom (Peggi), Tim (Sophie); sister Patricia (Chris); sister-in-law Lana; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was born in Fort Smith, NWT on May 4, 1953. As the son of an RCMP Officer, Ed lived all across Canada before settling down in Regina, SK after he completed law school. Ed began practicing law in 1977, and made partner at Pedersen Norman in 1981 where he continued to work until retirement in 2005. During this time he had so many passions such as spending time with family, travelling, cooking, the outdoors, the Roughriders, volunteering, home improvements, gardening and being involved in Regina’s Ukrainian community, specifically with the Ukrainian National Federation Hall. Ed will always be remembered for his generosity, upbeat attitude and infectious sense of humor. He will be dearly missed, always loved, and never forgotten. Prayers will be held at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina, SK on April 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rt. Rev. Vladimir Mudri presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ed, may be made for a Ukrainian Education Fund that will be created in his honour payable to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Regina Branch, Suite 1 - 1801 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK, S4P 1G3.
