LINDY MARIAN KASPERSKI October 29, 1950 – April 18, 2014 It is with overwhelming sorrow we announce the sudden death of our beloved father and grandfather Lindy on Friday, April 18, 2014. Left to grieve are his children, Dan, Jay (Sharon) and grandson Oliver and their mother Barbara; his parents, Mike and Sheila; sisters, Diane, Janet, Susan and their families; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends. Lindy dedicated numerous hours volunteering in his community. He served for many years on the Northwest Sports association assisting with programming, fundraising, and coaching. Lindy also canvassed on behalf of many causes including the Cancer Society, the Lung Association, CNIB and the Heart and Stroke Foundation, to name a few. He was also a founding member of The Open Door Society of Regina. In the early 70’s Lindy worked with the Department of Culture and Youth and was involved in bringing the Multicultural Festival here. In the last ten years he helped by providing both his time and shelter to street cats in Regina. Lindy had an astounding intellect and was extremely knowledgeable due to his lifelong pursuit of learning. He shared his deep love and passion for history and Polish heritage with all who knew him. Lindy devoted a great amount of time to research his family background and through doing so met family in Poland. During this research Lindy met and made a great friend, his cousin Piotr Krysiak of whom Lindy was very fond and kept in contact with. He had a deep attachment to the St Anthony’s Polish Community and the Polonia and Poltava dance groups. Lindy served as MLA for eight years representing Regina Sherwood Constituency. During this time he was chair of caucus and always willing to assist constituents with their problems. He took great pride and worked endless hours representing and serving the people in his constituency. A Celebration of Lindy’s Life will be held at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, 1825 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lindy, may be made to St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, 1825 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK, S4P 1G3.
