Obituary of Rita Victoria Molnar

RITA VICTORIA MOLNAR (nee Ringham) Rita, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 02, 2014 at the age of 78 years. She was predeceased by first husband Curtis Ringham, late of Swift Current; parents, John and Helen Szumutku, late of Rockford; sister Helen (John) Koczka, late of Regina; brother John Szumutku, late of Regina; and sister-in-law Dorothy Szumutku, late of Regina. Rita is survived by her husband of 35 years, Julius Paul Molnar of Regina; sister Margaret Tihor (Koczka) of Regina; daughter Deborah (Duncan) Robinson of Kelowna; daughter Carrie (Grant) Ringham-Hillhouse of Edmonton; and son Blaine (Sandi) Ringham of Red Deer. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Dawn (Ryan), Duncan Jr. (Yolanda), Dusk (Mike), Debora (Brian), Alexander and Emily as well as ten great-grandchildren. Rita was born May 24, 1935 in Rockford, SK and moved to Swift Current in 1953 for work. It was in Swift Current that she met her first husband, Curtis and they were married in 1954. She worked as a seamstress and volunteered at the Swift Current Elks Club while raising three children. Rita was a competitive bowler and loved to travel. After the death of her first husband Curtis, she met and married Julius Molnar in April 1979 and moved to Regina. Rita and Julius shared a passion for travel and through the years journeyed abroad several times as well as many visits to family and friends in Canada. When not on the road, she spent many hours tending to her yard and the animal visitors it attracted. Their other shared passion was for their dog "Duchess,” a true companion for both, who gave them a great deal of joy and happiness. Rita never lost her passion for sewing, which gave her solace and joy to be able to share her creations with loved ones. She also had a great love of music and could always be found humming or singing a tune. Rita will be missed by her family and friends but we take solace in her peaceful departure. A Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Karen Ziegler presiding.
