Obituary of Charles Donald Cribbs

CHARLES DONALD CRIBBS It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the death of our dad, husband, grandfather, brother and friend, Donald Cribbs, who passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Regina Pioneer Village. Don was born in Winnipeg in May of 1932 to Charles and Anne Cribbs, joined later by brother Gary and sister Charlyn. Predeceased by his parents and sadly his son Todd in 2013, he is survived by his wife, Irene; his son Bruce (Linda); grandchildren: Katie (Allie), Allison (Dan), Craig, Stephanie (Nick) and Adrianne (Josh); daughter-in-law Lorraine; grandchildren: Chris and Corisa; daughter Nancy-Anne and grandson Dylan. Don met Irene in Winnipeg on a blind date as a favour to a friend which soon evolved into a love and friendship that has lasted over 58 years. Throughout Don’s life his family and friends were his most valued treasures and they played an important part in everything he did. Don’s entire career was devoted to the family’s food brokerage business. He valued the experience he had working with his dad Charlie and brother Gary, and later on with son Bruce and nephew Garth. Don was one of the early members, along with a committed group of friends and neighbours, in the establishment of the Albert Park Recreation Association which provided activities and facilities for the youth of the Albert Park community. Of immense significance for Don was being a member of the Wa Wa Shrine and most importantly the Shrine Drum Corp. It is through the Shrine that Don and Irene made many of their lasting friendships. Don was also a long-time member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church community. Of special importance to Don was his love of their family cottage at Laclu in NW Ontario. This place held a particular significance as it connected him with his family and friends, past and present. Special thanks to all who provided Don with care and compassion this last while with special mention to the wonderful people at Regina Pioneer Village. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 3233 Argyle Road, Regina, SK on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral Columbarium.
