Obituary of Evelyn "Joan" Barr

EVELYN “JOAN” BARR Thanks for the life of Evelyn Joan Barr who departed on Saturday, July 19, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband John Arthur Barr. Joan is survived by her six children, Pat, Lloyd, Mark, Peter, Paul and Audrey. Born in Saskatoon, SK on April 30, 1929 to Edward and Lilian (Rolph) Smith and raised on the farm in Beechy, SK along with eight brothers and sisters. Joan was connected to the farm and every part of Canada where her loved ones lived. She married John Barr on August 8, 1949 sharing his life until November 21, 2012. Joan and John began their married life in Beechy, SK, moved to Kyle, SK and finally spent most of the last 50 years in Regina raising their family and any relative that needed a home in the city. Over the last 30 years or so, Joan became a mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met every role with the grace and dignity for which she'll be especially remembered. Joan faced Parkinson's disease with the same grace and dignity, donating her body to Parkinson's research. Keeping with the esteem in which she's held, the life of Evelyn Joan Barr will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Lindenbach, celebrant. She will be interred in Beechy Cemetery with Dad on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Joan, may be made to Dr. Ali Rajput Endowment for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Research, c/o Royal University Hospital Foundation, Room 1626, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7N 0W8.
