Dearest Kaufmann and Herauf families. We are beyond sorry for your loss! We have so many great memories of Tanner. I was lucky enough to be in his class the year he arrived at Ruth Pawson and continued to be a school mate until graduation. Tanner was always someone I could count on whether it was for a ride home in ol Joe or just a smile and head nod to brighten the day. I have not listened to a Tragically Hip song to this day and not thought of Tanner and his boys and well as Matthew, and to say plaid reminds me of Tanner is an understatement. Plaid IS Tanner : ) What an amazing man I am so proud to have had him touch my life. He has always held a special place in my heart. My parents thought the world of him, "such a nice man that Tanner Kaufmann" Please know that the Owens families are sending you every prayer and comfort available. I know there is nothing we can do to bring him back, but we are more than "on board" with whatever steps need to be taken to make a change! We love you all.

Tanner:
I remember when you first moved to Regina and came to Pawson. All the girls swooned over you. Your looks, your personality, your genuine easy going nature, your leadership. I'm sure your mom giggled at how often the phone ran at your house in elementary school from us girls calling and asking "can I talk to Tanner?". You were such a true genuine person. An all round genuine guy who truly cared what people had to say. Always made (me personally), feel special and important when I had a conversation with you and you were so easy to talk to and laugh with and get along with. You always looked me right in the eye during our convo's and I knew I was the only person you were focussed on at that exact moment. Never tried to rush a conversation, never tried to listen to someone else at the same time. Offered up kind advice when needed. It's rare to come across people like that in life and I am so sorry you are gone. You were so gifted. I remember the first time I saw your graffiti art and was blown away by how talented of an artist you were. You were taken so soon and this wan't supposed to happen.
You will be missed like crazy by everyone you ever met and I hope you and Macy are hunting away up in heaven.

I had the pleasure of coaching and getting to know Tanner as a Bantam hockey player. Tanner was a coaches dream player, he worked hard and did whatever the team needed. My thoughts, prayers, and heart go out to the family. Tanner was a great kid and although I didn't get to know him as an adult, from the stories I heard told of him, a great man as well. I got to know him, his siblings and parents in the 1980's when my husband, children and I would come to Canada and spend time with the Canadian relatives. A great time was had by all and I really loved my time there with them as they loved you back from the day we said hello for the first time. We will sorely missed you Tanner and is so sad you were taken early. Give everyone a big hug for me especially Matthew and your grandparents, who all have a big piece of my heart.
