Obituary of Tanner Brent Kaufmann

TANNER BRENT KAUFMANN April 9, 1979 – September 4, 2016 Tanner and his family dog Macy May, a 5 month old German Short Haired Pointer, were tragically taken from us on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Tanner was just north of Regina, at one of his regular training spots working with Macy to be an upland bird-hunting dog. Tanner, late of Regina SK, was born on April 9, 1979 in Weyburn, SK. He was predeceased by his younger brother Matthew Kaufmann; grandfathers Joe Kaufmann and Omer Roysum and uncle Brian Kaufmann. Tanner leaves behind his loving wife Alyscia (Herauf) of 9 years; sons Parks (7) and Kolt (5); parents Brent and Gwen Kaufmann; sister Amy; mother and father in-law, Allan and Paulette Herauf; brothers-in-law Jason and Ryan; his grandparents Nina Kaufmann and Lorraine Roysum; Alyscia`s grandparents Jim and Pauline Herauf; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless close friends. Tanner was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was the type of man who thought of others before himself. Tanner could chat up a complete stranger in a way that would make you think you had known him for years. He just had that way about him. Tanner was amazing with his boys and all children would flock to him. He loved children right back and patiently coached football, hockey and soccer. Tanner taught his boys and any other kids that were around “the best way” to catch a fish, chop wood, build a campfire, and scour for crayfish or whatever else he had in his bag of tricks. At home he worked hard landscaping and maintaining his yard while taking care of his garden with lots of help from his boys. His garage was also perfectly set up to have late night talks with his sister Amy where they solved all the world’s problems. He had so much passion for life and sports, especially hockey and biking at Wascana Trails with Alyscia or his friends. Tanner, his dad Brent and best friend Dave would always bring home the meat from their hunting trips and everyone looked forward to enjoying the amazing food that followed. He was excited to train Macy to be their newest bird hunting companion, as she was already an impressive dog at 5 months. He was so proud of how smart she was and everyone fell in love with her affectionate nature. Tanner was a master camper who loved heading to his family’s place at Island View and also the annual Herauf family camping trip. When Tanner was camping he was in his element. Everyone always looked forward to his smoked meat, funny campfire stories and best of all his fire sticking. Tanner’s appreciation for art and music was evident in every part of his life. From the tattoos on his body, to the art pieces he has created to the incredible art on his toolbox. The wood art he made for his boy’s names that hang in their rooms will be forever treasured. He even brought his creativity to the kitchen by cooking up delicious meals for his family and always backseat cooking when it was Alyscia’s turn to make supper. Tanner had a great love of music and learned most of his awesome dance moves from his mom Gwen. He also had a unique sense of style that was all his own. Tanner loved his plaid and flannel shirts and a particular favorite, his button up jean shirt. His unique hats and interesting facial hair creations always topped off the getup giving everyone something to talk about, especially his Big Beaver hat. Tanner was a gifted mechanic whose services and opinions were in great demand. He spent his days as a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Redhead Equipment and could often be found in the evenings working on his friend’s and family’s vehicles. Tanner was always the first guy to jump in to help out friends with whatever needed to be fixed, from your car to that home project. He was a role model for many and has blessed and graced the lives of everyone who knew him. Tanner will be forever missed, always remembered and greatly loved. Prayers will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina SK on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Child Parish, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
