Obituary of Wallace Frederic Schuster

WALLACE FREDERIC SCHUSTER March 16, 1924 – February 14, 2017 Wallace passed away at the age of 92 years at Regina Pioneer Village. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Wanda Schuster, brothers Dennis (Micky) and Donald Schuster, sister Esther Martin, sister-in-law Agatha Schuster and brother-in-law Harold Martin. Wallace is survived by seven nieces and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. From the age of 8 to his late teens, Wallace was enrolled at the Saskatoon School for the Deaf. At school, he joined the boy scouts, played hockey, was trained in mechanics and bee keeping. When he returned to the family farm he set-up beekeeping for a few years but after many bites, he decided it wasn’t for him. His father operated a large poultry farm and Wallace enjoyed delivering eggs to clients often staying for a meal and a visit. While on the farm, he raised livestock and grain farmed with his father and his brother Donald. After his brother Donald passed away, the farm was sold and Wallace moved to Cupar and a few years later to Regina, SK. Wallace always enjoyed farm life but had a keen interest in nature, the Qu’Appelle Valley and the countryside. One of his favorite activities was packing a duffle bag and a sleeping bag and heading out to different parks in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He also enjoyed visiting with family, traveling with friends, reading about history and current events, watching sports on TV and taking walks. He was an active member and made many lifelong friends through Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. One of his fondest memories was when he had his friends from the deaf community out to the family farm for a picnic. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. interment at Southey Cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Wallace to the Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, 2343 Broad Street, Regina, SK S4P 1Y9.
