We were shocked and sadden to hear of Matty's passing, she was such a wonderfully fun person! I was lucky enough to have worked with her for a short period during our time in Swift Current. The Hougeveen's were our neighbours and lived at the end of the street. We gathered there many times for get togethers and she was always such a gracious host! Gary and I send our deepest condolences to the entire family. We are so proud to say that we got to know Matty and had her touch our lives!

Bryan, I am so sorry to hear of Matty's passing. I had no idea that she was fighting cancer. She was such a strong, but happy person. Bryan, Scott, Erin and Laura - "Matty" was an AMAZING sister. Anytime you were near Matty she always had a smile on her face and Always put a smile on my face. She will deeply and dearly be missed and it just won't be the same around here without her. Her spirit will be with me forever.

My condolences to Bryan and family on the loss of your wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. I always enjoyed working with Matty, she was a class act. She treated everyone with respect and a smile. I remember when at Albert and Dewdney two customers got into a loud argument while waiting in line. Matty shut them up with a stern demand to " Take it outside boys!" We called her the velvet hammer after that.
She will be missed by all that knew her.

It's hard to lose a loved one. It's even harder when she is so young.
I have been thinking of you folks recently wondering how you are & didn't realize Matt was so I'll.
I will always remember Matt sending a beautiful stew & dumplings with me as I was leaving for the farm during harvest. I've wanted to remind her of it many times & let her know what a life saver it was for me that day.
I have used her dumpling recipe many times over the years.
