MATILDA “MATTY” HOOGEVEEN (née GARTNER) Matilda “Matty” Hoogeveen, from Regina, SK, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the age of 68 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Katherine Gartner; sister Anne Swidrowich; and brother Raymond Gartner. Matty is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Bryan; son Scott (Laura); daughters, Erin (Richard Barss) and Laura (Chris) Lucyk; grandsons, Benjamin and Jett Lucyk; granddaughter Kaitlyn Hoogeveen; sisters, Jean Lipp, Helen McCann, Eileen (Len) Wiest, and Rose Farmer; brothers, Ed (Gloria), Albert (Norma), and Pius (Carol); brother-in-law Tom Hoogeveen; sister-in-law Janice Wilkes (Bryan Woynarowich); special lifelong friends, Tom and Kathy Coolican; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Matty was known for her delicious home cooked meals and baking, her love of gardening, and above all, love for her family. Her children and especially her grandchildren were her pride and joy whom she devoted so much of her time and love to. She will be forever missed, but will forever be in the hearts of all those lucky enough to know her. As per Matty’s wishes, there will be no service. Friends and family so wishing, may make donations, in memoriam, to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, 200-4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, SK S4W 0G3 or to a charity of one’s choice.
