Obituary of Sylvia Rodd
SYLVIA RODD
July 21, 1941 – April 18, 2017
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the age of 75 years. She is predeceased by her parents Barbara and John, sisters Stella, Sophie, Anne and brothers Bill and Angus. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 57 years, George and sons Rick (Laurie) and Rob and her sister Vicki Jansen. Sylvia was born in Dauphin Manitoba July 21, 1941. She moved to Winnipeg and worked at a Dominion store where she met George. They married in Winnipeg and moved to Regina in 1961. In 1977, they opened Lakeshore IGA, an independent grocery franchise. Sylvia played an important role managing the store and looking after customers as well as most of the office duties. It is during this time that her passion for flowers and gardening developed. She helped start the garden centre at Lakeshore IGA and was the driving force behind it. Sylvia had many people asking her for advice or planting ideas and was always willing to share her knowledge. She continued to do her share at the new family business while she was able. Her faith as a Jehovah’s Witness gave her great personal strength that served her well throughout her life. Sylvia lived her last days with courage, grace and hope. A private gathering will be held. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
