KUNETSKY, David Andrew
It is with great sadness our dearest husband, dad, Gido, great-Gido, passed away in Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Dave is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Elizabeth; children, Shelley (Troy) Foster, David (Shannon) Kunetsky; grandchildren, Taylor Foster (Justin) and Aquinnah Foster (Jared); great-grandchild Willow Foster; his sister Olga Ratushniak and her family; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Pauline Kunetsky; brother Ted Kunetsky; and niece Christine Boychuk. Dave was born in Canora, SK on August 16, 1942. He grew up on the family farm by Burgess, SK. After high school, Dave became a teacher at the age of 18 and taught in a one room school in Caragana, SK, with some students being almost as old as him. He taught in various places and eventually met the love of his life, Liz, and they married October 9, 1965. They eventually settled in Regina and started a family. Dave travelled the #1 Highway to Balgonie High School for 27 years, where he was Vice Principal. When he retired from teaching, he began a new career as a financial planner for 15 years. Dave later retired and enjoyed his time with Liz. He was a veracious reader, he enjoyed spending time outside gardening or putzing in the garage, but above all, he enjoyed spending time with Liz, family, and friends. Dave’s Ukrainian heritage and traditions were very important to him. We spent many times, gathered around a table, listening to stories and remembrances of the past, alongside family and friends. Dave’s family would like to express gratitude to friends, family, and the staff of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, for all the care and concern. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations in memory of Dave may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
