Aunt Vicki, Darcee, Natalie & Nicole. I deeply share in your feelings and loss. During the time my Dad was in the hospital I talked with Uncle Alex over the phone quite often. After Dad passed away Uncle Alex, in a low, soft, sad voice said "he was my last brother". Something snapped inside me and at that moment I became very close to Uncle Alex. We called each other at least once a month after Dad's funeral and shared many stories about Dad. Uncle Alex told me tales from when they were young boys from getting chased home everyday by the indians from the mission school, eating muskrat from their trapline, hanging around Uncle Tom's farm to the fishing trips with Dad & friends later in life. You could just see the smile on his face reminiscing their youth and experiences. I talked to him about PTSD and he was always concerned how I was doing. We talked of me coming back to Sask and going fishing, sadly that will not happen. One month I had phoned him to tell him I was coming out, boat in tow to go fishing. He chuckled and told me they still had 4 feet of ice. I will never forget him for being there for me and I will cherish our talks and time spent together forever. Rest in Peace Uncle Alex.
