Obituary of Leo Rudolph Chicilo

Leo Chicilo died suddenly on November 28, 2018, in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 84. Among his many successes in life, Leo was most proud of his family: his wife, Vivian; sons, Tim (Candace), Kent (Shawna), and Chad (Emma); and his grandchildren, Beck, Lola, Meredith, and Winston; as well as many close nieces and nephews. Leo was sincerely committed to his family and will be deeply missed by each of them. He was predeceased by his sisters, Stephanie, Regina, Helen, Rose, and Mary, and brothers, Michael and Tony. Leo was born on October 22, 1934, in Buchanan, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Annie. After graduating from St. Joseph’s in Yorkton, he moved east and spent memorable years in the Maritimes instructing at and managing an Arthur Murray dance studio. He later returned to the Canora-Buchanan area to expand the family farm with his brother, Michael. Around this time he waltzed Vivian Rollack off her feet and they married in 1966. He built his family and home in Canora while continuing to farm in the Buchanan and Rhein areas until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement, Leo and Vivian moved to Regina and enjoyed travelling the world with friends and appreciating every moment spent with family.  Leo was a skilled ballroom dancer and jumped at any opportunity to hit the dance-floor with Vivian and friends. He also enjoyed cross-country, downhill and water skiing and was very content with the fact that he achieved his last ski days after his 80th birthday. Leo was a true gentleman that expected old-fashion manners and a firm handshake, yet was equally known for an affable appreciation of jokes and stories told over a coffee or rum and coke. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 in Resurrection Parish, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina SK at 11:00 a.m.
