Obituary of Carolynn Lana Meginbir
It is with great sadness that the family of Carolynn Lana Meginbir announces her passing on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 60 years, with her sister Sandy at her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Muriel Meginbir; and her special uncle, Arthur Meginbir. Carolynn will be forever remembered by her sister Sandra (Art) Heinrichs; brothers, Marlon (Shelley Elliott) and Gary; her nieces, Carla and Brianna (Kirk Morris); and her nephews, Justin, Travis and Parker (Amy Meginbir). Her enormous circle of friends and extended family will also fondly miss her. Born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Carolynn received her first degree in Education from the University of Regina before following her passion for art and earning a Honours Degree in Art History from the University of Waterloo. After graduation she worked at the prestigious McMichael Art Gallery in Toronto for several years, before returning to Saskatchewan where she found a professional home at the WCB.
Throughout her life, Carolynn followed her passion for both art and travel. The love and mastery she devoted to her various crafts have left an artistic legacy including paintings, quilts, greeting cards, and others too numerous to mention. Carolynn traveled the world extensively with several trips through Europe, the United Kingdom, and Central America. Even during her battle with breast cancer, she continued to explore the world, most recently with a trip to China where she was able to visit with her niece Carla. We are all grateful that she shared her journeys with us through her digital albums and lovely websites. Carolynn’s wonderful and generous personality endeared her to all. Her lifelong friends were joined by new friends she gained along the way. All who knew and loved her will profoundly feel her absence, but our memories of her will not fade. We are blessed to have known her. A Celebration of Carolynn’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family and friends so wishing, may make memorial donations in Carolynn’s name to the Building Fund at Little Flower Parish, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK, S4N 0X2 or The Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 7T1.
