Obituary of Leon Cory Michael Herperger

Leon, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 10, 2019. Born on September 17, 1974, he is survived by his grandmother Mary Herperger; parents, Paulette and Jerome Herperger; sisters, Tara Funk and Karla Cruickshank; and niece and nephew, Kealy and Liam Cruickshank. Leon’s creative soul started with art and moved to music. Music was his life, how he interacted, and how he touched many. Known for his contagious smile and unusual wit, Leon’s talent was hard to contain. Not classically trained, there wasn’t an instrument he couldn’t play or teach someone to play. Starting with guitar, Leon developed other aspirations. In high school, he played the double bass in the South Sask. Youth Orchestra, alongside the Regina Symphony. University showed Leon his love of composition. He played in several bands over the years and influenced many others. Leon’s last years focused on creating a symphony piece worthy of Debussy, time will tell. Per Leon’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations in memory of Leon may be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan, 1311 Saskatchewan Drive, Regina, SK S4P 0C9.
