Jocelyne Walter (Vancouver)

I’m in shock having just learned about Alain’s passing. What a loss to those who knew and adored him, me included. He and my late mother, Wilna (“Willy”) Hodgson were colleagues and dear friends. I met Alain in the early 80s when mom introduced us. We’d been in touch via Facebook but the last I saw him was when he drove his tractor (he was cutting the grass for the City of Regina) up to the fence at the Wascana Pool where I was swimming, to say hi. Alain was always cheerful, always smiling and happy. He was a wonderful person. I’ll miss bumping into him and I’ll miss our connection on Facebook. Safe journey Alain. God bless you. Heather Hodgson

Alain was the eldest grandson in our family. We always looked forward to him coming home at the holidays. He was full of fun with a twinkle in his eye and we younger cousins adored him. Christian, today, you spoke so well about your dad. He would be so proud of you. You were all he ever talked about and how much he loved you...there was no question.

Dear Christian and family.
My name is Donalda Jones and I am the mother of Steven Ripplinger. I was at your Dad's service today but due to a back injury, I could not go for coffee afterwards to give my condolences in person.
I was not expecting you to talk about Steven and Alain. It was such a joy the way your Dad came into our life. We were advertising for a driver and it was a paid position and the only way your Dad would do it was as a volunteer. Your Dad always came to Steven's birthday parties and fundraisers. He was loving and kind. He spoke of you and your Mom with such love.

I went to Gravelbourg High School with Alain in the late 1960's. He was a kind, jovial and loving person. Like many guys back in the 60's, our favorite pass time was driving around. He had a fantastic sense of humour. One day I told him that we needed to find something else to do than drive around. The next day, I asked him if he had thought of something else to do. He looked at me and said: ''Yeah, I did, but I forget what it is, so we'll just go for a drive until I remember.'' God Bless Alain and his family.
Yours Truly
John Hamon.

I knew Alain briefly when I lived in Regina. I was a university student at the time and Alain was working for Radio Canada. Alain was an easy going person. He had a wonderful radio voice that captivated you. He had a yellow corvette that he loved to drive. We hung out until I moved away to Saskatoon. As a short term friend I was saddened to hear of his passing.
Condolences to his family and friends.

Alain was loved by many people including me. He had a gentle and kind heart that he shared with everyone. And, his smile was just like the one in the photo. Aways, genuine.
When Alain and I shared our lives together, he was accepted into my family with open arms. We all loved him dearly and shared many good times together. Many memories that will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you, Alain for sharing Christian with my children. The bond will always remain.
Even though we haven’t been together for some time, we remained friends.
I know in my heart that Alain is in a happy place now. Peaceful and content. You will be missed by myself and my family.
Love and Peace to you, Christian and to the Clermont family.

Alain, Tim Romanow and I first met at a Skate Canada competition in the late 80s - Alain announcing and Tim and I judging. We three formed a lifetime friendship even though we lived in different provinces. Every summer, every year, when I visited family in Regina, Alain and I would reconnect over a cocktail or coffee. Ever a proud Saskatchewanian, he was excited to return home to Regina this past spring, after a few years in the Okanagan. Alain was very proud of his son, Christian Clermont PhD, and always shared stories of their fun times together - which usually involved outdoor activities. Alain's passing was shocking! My deepest sympathies to you Christian, and the Clermont family. I will miss you, mon cher ami francais.

It was with shock that I read Alain's obituary today - I just cannot believe it. It is such a great picture to remember him by - that smile was always on his face every time I talked to him. I met Alain so many years ago that I honestly can't remember when but we loved to catch up on what Christian was up to and what my daughter was doing as they were the same age. He was always quick to laugh and was such a good listener. I will miss him. My condolences especially to you Christian and also to the Clermont family.

I worked with Alain during his days at the Saskatchewan Public Service Commission. I remember many fun times and think often of Alain during the first days of autumn. He always told me that autumn was his favourite season because he got to wear sweaters! My sincere condolences to Alain's family and friends. Christian, he spoke of you often. Dawn (Davis) Calder

I had the distinct privilege of working side by side as announcers at numerous national and international figure skating competitions for Skate Canada. Alain possessed a wonderful voice and delivery, such tone and resonance, truly one of the best. His ability to switch between impeccable English and French was inspiring. He will be missed!

Alain was my cousin but we grew up together more as brother and sister. I could akways rely on him to protect me, get us into trouble and laugh until we couldn't breathe. That continued until we were into adulthood except that we didn't get into trouble. He was the kindest and most loving person. I have this huge hole in my heart that will never be filled. Alain, rest peacefully in the arms of God. I will see you again. Until then I continue to love you as my brother and will keep the memory of you forever close. Gros becs.
My deepest condolences Christian and family.
