HEADFORD, Sophie
Sophie, late of Regina and formerly of Lumsden, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the age of 81 years. Sophie was born and raised in Regina and after living almost all of her married life on an acreage outside Lumsden, moved back to her ‘old neighbourhood’ at College Park. She could look out her window and see her high school, Balfour Collegiate and was close to the home where she was raised. After attending business school, Sophie worked her entire career (over 38 years) with GMAC. In that time, she missed only 2 days of work. She married Norman Headford of Kedleston in 1963 and assisted him with the business he started in 1967, Headford Electric. Mostly, that meant patiently waiting in the vehicle for him while he finished up a job or a lengthy conversation with customers and friends! Sophie loved the house that Norman designed and built on the acreage – she had a fantastic view and great neighbours, and for years walked into Lumsden to pick up her mail. She sang in the choir at St. Andrew’s United Church in Lumsden and volunteered for events. Sophie was devoted to spending time with Norman and they did everything together, whether it was raising Husky dogs, travelling, or arranging and hosting family events. She missed Norman so much after his passing. Sophie was predeceased by Norman in 2014, her parents Freda and Paul Moldovan, her sisters Priscilla Hammond and Katherine Bagwill, brother-in-law George Flaman, and Norman’s siblings Fred (Barbara) Headford and Noreen (Albert) Redford. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Flaman, nieces and nephews – Heather (Jeep) Hammond, Nancy Hammond, Susan Hammond, Jeff (Geri) Bagwill, Monty (Rita) Bagwill, Rick (Allison) Bagwill, Kimberly (Jason) Zarbo, Julie (Chad) Bagwill, Mark Bagwill, Bernadette (Rod) Stasiuk, Randy (Jill) Flaman, John (Mary Ann) Headford, Marjorie (Mike) Gavigan, Kathleen (Jerry) Schropp, Vanessa (Len) Headford, Leslie (Anne) Redford, Gwyneth (Steve) McLellan, Maralyn Redford, Murray (Brenda) Redford and their respective children. Numerous cousins and close friends also mourn her passing. Due to the restrictions of the pandemic, there will be a private service conducted by Marjorie Kent (St. Andrew’s United Church, Lumsden) at Kedleston Cemetery in June. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Sophie’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. Relatives and friends may reach out to the family by visiting Sophie’s Tribute Page at www.speersfuneralchapel.com and let them know you are thinking of them during this difficult time.
