Obituary of Gary Alan Ranford
Gary (Buck) Alan Ranford, 67, of Regina, passed away Saturday, August 1st, 2020.
Gary fought a year long battle with cancer and is now at peace with his parents, William (Bill) / Francis (Illa) Ranford; sisters Jo-anne, Judy and Denny. He leaves behind, to fondly remember him, brothers Garth, Dean (Wendy) and Bill (Kalla); many nephews, nieces and cousins; his Aunt Donna; brother in law Lloyd and a life long list of close friends and neighbors.
His work history ranged from oil rigs to farm hand and then a long career running his contract business delivering the Leader Post across Southern Saskatchewan, six days a week.
Gary was everyone's friend, helping anyone anytime. He put others needs ahead of his own and any free time he had was spent as everyone's local mechanic, home handyman and helper. If he wasn't fixing someone’s vehicle, he was helping others in their business, family, friends or neighbors with home repairs, snow removal or anything needed. Since retiring a few years back, he invested his energy to help build a small family construction business with 2 of his brothers. Gary asked nothing of others but was the first to step up and give help.
Regina was Gary’s only true home. From among his many accomplishments Gary took great pride in his Northwest Regina home. Living in the area he grew up in, it was his happy place – especially tinkering in his garage. Gary was passionate about sports (hockey - Go Bruins!, football), his 80 Chevy and he was an avid shuffleboard, card and dice player. He greeted everyone right to the end with a loud and heartfelt greeting topped by his unique and gruff sense of humor.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2020 at his home 26 McMurchy Avenue from 3-7 p.m. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, those who wish to attend are asked to contact the family by email at granford@sasktel.net in order to schedule their arrival time.
