Cecilia Schneider

Obituary of Cecilia Marie Schneider

Cecilia Marie Schneider, age 82, died peacefully with her family beside her on August 13, 2020 at the Salvation Army Grace Hospice, in Regina, SK.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Anna (nee Putz) Schneider of Regina; brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Dorothy Schneider of Calgary; and special uncle Simon Schneider of Regina. Cecilia is survived by her brother Michael Schneider of Calgary and sister Mary Schmitz of Calgary; nieces Justine Walton (Trent), Carla Johnson, Lauri Groulx (Randy); nephews Mike Schmitz, Mark Schmitz (Jordana); great-nieces Ella, Sophie, Sarah and Tiana and great nephews Rian, Jacob, Bennett, Avery, and Kai.

Cecilia was born on August 6, 1938 in Regina, SK.  She attended Balfour Collegiate and later accepted a payroll position with the Robert Simpson Company in 1952. She stayed there through the merger of Simpson-Sears and the final sale to the Hudson Bay Company retiring in 1981.  She moved to Pearlman’s and worked as a bookkeeper until 1988.  After leaving Pearlman’s she wanted to be home more with her elderly father and went back to school at the age of 50 to become a legal transcriber for the Courts of Saskatchewan.

Cecilia was an incredibly gifted violin player.  She studied at the Conservatory of Regina and was actively recruited to the Regina Symphony Orchestra but chose to forgo that opportunity so she could be with her ailing mother.  Cecilia was a caregiver from the beginning and was always one to help with the chores and younger siblings. This did not change as she grew older as she was the primary caregiver for her father Andrew and uncle Simon.  Although she had no children of her own, her nieces and nephews were incredibly important and special to her.  She passed her love along to the great nieces and nephews as well.

Cecilia was an active member of the Regina Kennel Club. She was an accredited breeder and shower of obedience trial champion Shelties.

She was a woman of incredible faith and was an original member of the Holy Child Parish in Regina. Her family and friends will always remember her as a woman who loved God, her family and her pets.

A private family celebration will take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 and she will be Interred together with her parents at Riverside Memorial Park in Regina, SK.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Regina Home Care, Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice for the incredible care she received and allowed her to pass with dignity.  Donations in memorial may be made to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK, S4R 8P6.
