Obituary of Jessica Amber Paige Friday

Wapos (Rabbit)

Jessica Amber Paige Friday

December 9, 1997 – August 15, 2020

It is with deep sadness to announce Jessica has begun her spiritual journey at the age of 22.  She was predeceased by her Kokum Elizabeth Blackstar; Mushom Norman Blackstar; and Paternal Mushom Mervin Kaiswatum.  Jessica is survived by her Mother Delilah Blackstar (Gabby); Father Claude Friday (Pecho); Kokum Ida Friday; siblings, Kyle (Jocelyn), Amelia (Rawd), Brett (Brittany), Terence and Zoey; special nieces, Lylah and Jade; special nephews, Nazlund, Chicken Wing, Wade and Kyson; aunties, Hilda, Lillian, Carmen, Eileen and Sheri; uncles, Danny, Oakley and Wesley; and special friend Creedence Starr-Bellegarde.

Jessica has made many friends and family on the pow wow trail and playing hockey as the goalie.  She had many talents; at a young age she started hunting with Dad, she loved her culture, she danced Traditional and travelled throughout Turtle Island to showcase her style.  Jessica had a special bond with her family, friends and cousins which brought out her quirky funny side. This led to many nicknames such as Jackfish, Old Lady, Showsh(y), Peso, and Tumtoo. Regardless of age, she was kind and respectful to all that she met.

Jessica completed her grade 12 at O’Neill Catholic High school and received training and worked in a Care Home. She had aspirations of attending University to further her education in the social work field. She wanted to continue dancing in the pow wow circuit and travelling to learn other nation’s cultures.

Special Acknowledgements to the pow wow and hockey families, her Uncles, Blackstone Singers, Elder Irene Young, the Helpers and Cooks.

The family is grateful for all the prayers and donations.
