Obituary of Herbert Reinhold Volke

Herbert R. Volke, late of Emerald Park, Saskatchewan, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 after struggling with Parkinson’s Disease. Better known as Herb, he was born on March 17, 1933 in Big Beaver, Saskatchewan.  He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Annie; his brothers Frank, Arnold and Albert; and sister Blonda Waters. Herb leaves to mourn, his wife Mildred (nee Larson) and remaining brother Arthur. He is also survived by his son Brian (Margaret), now living in Calgary, Alberta; daughter Marcille from Vibank, Saskatchewan; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. While growing up in the southern Saskatchewan area of Big Beaver, Herb and MIldred moved to Regina when they were married in 1952. For the next twenty five years, Herb served with the Regina Police Service.  Barring a brief sojourn in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Herb spent the rest of his life in the White City-Emerald Park area. A self-proclaimed country boy, Herb loved listening to Old-Time polkas. His favourite singer was Johnny Cash.  A baseball player in his youth, Herb also loved golf.  He loved playing the banjo and the mandolin.  Herb was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His most favourite thing was visiting.  He always said that people are where your fun is.
