Tom most certainly had an influence on music and my playlist as well. Sitting on his back deck, music was always a specifically and perfectly chosen backing track to the garden lights, fire, and sounds of the pond. Highlighted by the glow of the pool. Like it has been said, Tom would enthusiastically point out specific elements of a Corb Lund track or others, remarking at the brilliance of a small lyric, or indicating with a quick turn of his hand, and element of a chord or sequence. I will also always be able to think of Tom fondly when I tune a guitar, remembering to, as he told me, always tune up, so that the string doesn’t fall flat. I know for sure that Old Oak Tree and Raspberry Pickin’ Time will always show up in my head, and I’m proud to say I’ve heard Jude singing it to himself as well. Music is a brilliant legacy to leave, and I am happy to have it...that and the liberal use of dill on my potatoes and carrots.

So many fond memories shared with Tom over the years, from riding motorcyles, Moonshine Molly band days, and the Prairie Balloon Group. Many fun trips were had with music gigs and numerous hot air balloon flights. We took the club balloon to Billings in the late 70s and one evening we tethered it on the lawn next to the hotel. Malcolm took people up for short rides while Tom played his guitar and sang while standing in the balloon basket as they went up and back down. Tom was laughing and cracking jokes while people took turns having rides creating a festive mood as they clambered in and out of the basket. My deepest condolences Debbie, Jim & Lynda and all family members. Like a bird singing in the rain, let grateful memories survive in time of sorrow - Robert Louis Stevenson.

I had the opportunity to work with Tom for 10 years at Cornwall, and learned a great deal from him. He was a generous and insightful leader, to both staff and students at the school. His ability to connect with the kids was exceptional, and he used that skill to make a positive difference in many lives.
My sincere condolences to his family.

I was so sorry to learn of Tom’s passing and his battle with cancer. As Tom’s cousin, I have fond childhood memories of playing with Maureen, Tom, Barbara and Jim at Aunt Ruby’s and Uncle Harold’s house. Tom and I also attended Martin Collegiate together. My sympathies go out to Debbie, the children and grandchildren as well as Maureen, Barbara, Jim and their families. May all your happy memories with Tom help you through this sad time.

In 1983, my first job was teaching at Cornwall where Tom Warner was the Director. It was the best introduction to the world of education I could have hoped for. Soon that will have been 40 years ago. I know I have some photos from those days that I will dig out and post. Tom's sense of humour and his storytelling, contributed to a fun and welcoming learning environment. I was inspired by his style of educational leadership. Take good care.

By now Tom will have joined the Heavenly choir at large. He is likely working on ideas for smaller group ensembles. He and Malcolm may already be collaborating. Sincere condolences to all of Tom’s family.
