Obituary of Maureen Gavin

Maureen Gavin (nee Durnin), late of Regina, SK, passed away after a turbulent battle with cancer in recent months at the age of 77. She passed peacefully with family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Mollie Durnin. Maureen is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Noel; sons Chris of Cupar and Tyrone of Netherlands; daughter Bernadette (Mike) of Regina; three grandchildren Declan, Noel, and Keira; sisters Yvonne (Fred) and Betty (Jim) of Regina; brothers Eugene (Wendy) of Richmond, BC, Steve (Dawn) of Ottawa, ON, and Michael (Joanne) of Orleans, ON; as well as a large extended family in Ireland. She was very fond of her many nieces, nephews, and cousins and adored her grandchildren. Maureen immigrated to Canada as a young teen and entered the work force to support her family. She worked in a variety of retail and grocery stores. In the early 80’s, Maureen was an active member of the South Saskatchewan Irish Club teaching Irish dance. She was very skilled in knitting, crochet, sewing, and loved reading and baking. Maureen’s kind, welcoming way and sharp humour will be missed. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
