As the tune says, Patricia Oman has gone to the place that’s the best. She passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 13, 2020. Her spirit and warped sense of humour is carried on by her four children and their partners, ten grandchildren, and two sisters.
From Pat, we learned hard work, creativity and how to dish it out as well as take it. She taught us you don’t throw out a pencil until you are sharpening tin. No matter what you needed, with a few random things around the house and some glue she could MacGyver it.
Pat is survived by her children and grandchildren: Kelly Oman (fiancé Jeff and his son Keaton), Becky Harmel (husband Ross and children Lauryn and Tyler), Chris Oman (fiancée Tracy, daughters Izzie and Charlie and Tracy’s son Seth), and Tim Oman (wife Jolene, his children Taelor, Keeley and Blake and their son Bodhi); and sisters Cathy and Frankie Smith. Pat is reunited with her dad Frank and mother Cay Smith who is likely rolling her eyes at them both.
Spending time with those who called her Grandma Pat and having a comedic, unfiltered battle of wits with her brilliant, and slightly above average children gave her the greatest joy. Videos of people getting hurt would have her laughing so hard she couldn’t speak, almost as hard as kidding around with her sisters. Family and friends were everything to her. Hosting and cooking, not so much. She was always up for a family camping trip, vacation to a place with white sand and palm trees, or an impromptu visit.
Friends can attend a celebration of Pat’s life via live streaming on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. Grab your popcorn, black jujubes and your inappropriate sense of humour and join us; time and link will be shared by the family. In lieu of flowers, her favourite child Boo requests donations to be made to his friends at the Humane Society.
