Obituary of Irma Emilie Stenzel
Irma Stenzel, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her parent, Ernst and Emilie Sesula (nee Sauder); siblings Alfred, Leopold, Alvin, Edmund, Edward, Edwin (Infancy) and Olga (Infancy) and brothers-in-law Tom and Bill. Lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Florence, Gertrude, Emma (Don) and Raymond (Marva); her three children Christine (Tim), Richard (Michelle) and Catherine (Cliff); her ten grandchildren Joshua, Kimberly, Rachel, Jonathon, Angela, Sheldon, Laura (Dallas), Eric, Braden, and Logan; her two great-granddaughters Emalee and Kenedy and numerous nieces and nephews. Irma was born and raised on the family farm near Waldeck, SK. She graduated in 1957 from the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital. Irma married Alex Stenzel in 1957. During their married life together, they lived in several different provinces. Irma worked for several years in the Nursery at the Grey Nuns Hospital and then quit to raise her family. In 1978, she returned to Saskatchewan and worked at the Pasqua Hospital on 3D until her retirement in 1991. Retirement was spent knitting (she was the original knitting machine), crocheting, gardening, doing puzzles, playing games especially checkers and her favourite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always keeping them busy with crafts, playing games and sleepovers. Irma had an infectious laugh and a quick smile. She had a strong faith in the Lord which gave her comfort especially in her last years. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Cor. 12:9. The family would like to thank the staff at Broadway Terrace, Harvest Haven, Pasqua Hospital Wards ER, 3D, 4A, 4B, Wascana Rehab, Sunset Extendicare and Allegro Seniors Home for the care they gave our mom. Unfortunately due to Covid, there will only be a private family service with interment at the Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 2702 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1J2 or the ALS Society of Canada, 2430 8th Avenue Unit C, Regina, SK, S4R 5E3.
