Elizabeth joined her Heavenly Father and family on Friday, October 23, 2020. Elizabeth was a lively, energetic, fun loving girl who grew up with her older siblings Johanna, Mary, John, Eva, Rose, Sophie, Tony and Frank on a farm near Grayson, Saskatchewan. She was born on August 3, 1925 to Christian and Magdalena (Exner) Ruhr. Mom said she had a very good childhood with kind and loving parents who allowed her to develop into a strong determined woman with a good work ethic.

Elizabeth married Philip James Flegel on October 29, 1945 and they had six children: Connie (Garry Gelowitz); Lucia, died at three weeks; Stan (Mryna Hildebrandt); Gloria (Louis Stringer); Doug (Margie Bettiol) and Jerry.  The family lived in Grayson, Lemberg and Regina. Phil passed away on April 23, 1999.
Grandchildren, their spouses and great-grandchildren were a blessing and she prayed for each one of them; (Connie) Leah and Clay, Taylor and Dalia, Angelo,  Kaylee and Kale, Melanie and Dan, Ethan, Avery; (Stan) Stanley and Carie, Emily, Logan; (Gloria) Réjean and Sasha, Kade, Dior, Véda, Reynald and Kim, Eliott, Zoé, Joselle, Laurielle; (Doug) Chelsea; (Jerry) Jeremy and Jennifer(deceased), Bennett.

Elizabeth enjoyed volunteering at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina for many years.  In 2014, she moved to the Pioneer Villa in Gravelbourg, then to the Bentley and Cypress House in Swift Current. She enjoyed the friends and staff at all her homes.

Elizabeth was a devout Catholic all her life, a faithful attendee at church. In her later years, the daily TV masses and the rosary brought her great comfort and showed us how someone can keep their faith strong for 95 years through all the ups and downs of life.

A Family Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish in Regina, SK on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Rick Krofchek as Celebrant. Due to Covid 19-restrictions, seating will be limited. To view the livestream of the service please click on the link above, which will be available on the day of the service.
