He was a gentleman, in the Cardinal Newman sense of the term. I first met him when I arrived in Regina three years ago when I was a Seminarian, and he a well-respected and experienced Monsignor of the Church. Like everyone else, he was aware that I had neither family nor friends in the Diocese. So in a sense, one can say he held all the cards in his hand. Despite this, what struck me after our first meeting at Holy Rosary Cathedral after the Saturday morning Mass, was the courtesy and respect he showed me. Nothing excessive, simply the courtesy and respect one would expect from one human being to another, from one adult to another. And this was the hallmark of all of our subsequent meetings, as infrequent as they were. Courtesy and politeness. Civility. There was no subtle attempt at bullying or infantilization (the scourge of the Priesthood universally); no attempt to exploit the hierarchical nature of the Church to compensate for whatever insecurities he may have had (the various stages of formation in the Church might well invite bullying among the insecure); no offering of unsolicited and unnecessary advice (the classic manner in which condescension is cloaked). None of that! It was simply genuine concern as to how I was doing in Regina, and gratitude that I had decided to become a Priest. He treated me with the respect due a 55 year old man, with some experience of the world, and not as some 30 year old male ingenue who had to be reminded of his place. His was an important reminder that, even though they are a dying breed, there still exists Priests who put Sanctity (which, as corny as it sounds, boils down to "niceness," to "kindness," to "gentleness"), in the first place. And in that sense he renewed my Faith that the Priesthood is a Vocation worth pursuing, and has etched himself on my memory. Thank you, Monsignor Miller. May perpetual light shine upon you and may you rest in peace, Amen. Fr. Ricardo Escalante

Our Dearest Monsignor...
You have been in our lives for 3 generations, and my Dad's best friend since you were both 5. We marked every important life moment with you either officiating or by our sides. We are humbled and honoured to have been able to share our lives with you in our "family", and we'll miss you more than you know.
It might be okay if you take your collar off now, and rest. We love you now and always...
Love The Hartnell Family

I first met Fr. Ken in Moose Jaw where he began his ministry as chaplain at Providence Hospital and helping Fr.O'Donnell at COOL.
In June 1965, Gov. Gen. & Madame Vanier visited Moose Jaw. A regular practice of the couple was to attend daily Mass. At the time neither St. Joseph's nor COOL were handicap accessible. St...Anthony's Home had a ramp and a chapel! Thus, the vice-regal couple attended Mass there presided by Fr. Ken, who was the chaplain at Providence Hospital. My brother John and his friend, Stanley Murza were the altar servers.
A couple of years ago Fr./Msgr. Ken called me one day when he was in Moose Jaw to say that he had some newspaper clippings/photos to give me regarding that event. He was aware of my long connection to Vanier Collegiate and thought it appropriate in his "house cleaning" to share these things with me.
.
As well, I connected many times with him over the years through Campion College events.
Rest in peace, Fr. Ken! Fr. O'Donnell is waiting to meet you!
Sincerely,
Rose Mary Hartney

Monsignor Miller was the Miller Marauder football team Chaplin during the 1970 and 1971 championship seasons. Father Ken and Ted Dolinski averted a tragic boating accident saving many lives including my daughters Lisa and Heather. Miller Marauder family members will forever remember his kindness and guidance during and after those fun Miller days.

I was a young teenager in Moose Jaw when Father Ken was the chaplain at Providence Hospital. He was my brother in law’s best friend growing up and he became a close family friend visiting our home when he had the time. Later when I was a young mother in Estevan he was our parish priest. We have many fond memories of time with him. He was always interested in our lives and took the time to ask about our activities. Rest In Peace Father Ken, you were a Good Shepherd and left your spiritual goodness on all who were blessed to know you. Sincerely, Terry and Maureen Scott, Saskatoon
