Obituary of Edward Steven Kostiuk

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Steven Kostiuk on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the age of 62 when he lost his battle with diabetes.  Ed was predeceased by his parents Steve and Olga Kostiuk.  He is survived by his loving wife Laurie; daughters Shaylene (Ian), Christine (Evan), and Clarissa Kostiuk; and grandchildren Isaiah and Savannah; step-daughters Nadine (Willie), Nicole and Genny Miller (Steve); and four step-grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his sister Cheryl; nephew Curtis; niece Amanda (Ryan); great-nephew Keegan, great-nieces Kiana and Lexi; aunt Anne (Joe) Petryshyn; uncle Walle Head; and numerous cousins.

Ed was born and raised in Regina, SK.  He attended St. James School, going onto Miller High to complete his education. He was quite the athlete in his younger days, winning many first place ribbons in city-wide competitions.  Ed was always a natural-born musician, self-taught in both guitar and bass.  Music was his true passion and over the years he was constantly involved in the band world, playing many gigs and taking part in many jam sessions.  Ed also enjoyed playing pool and a good game of cards.  He was a Rider fan and enjoyed getting together to watch a good game, win or lose.  Holidays with family were important to Ed as well, as he enjoyed a good visit followed by a meal, hopefully with homemade cabbage rolls as they were his favourite. 

Ed was a jack of all trades and master of quite a few.  He was always on the go with something and lived life to its fullest.  Despite his diabetes, he wasn't one to complain, but rather carried on with determination the many things he needed (wanted) to get done in the day.  "Slow down" and take a rest was not in Ed's vocabulary, which made it difficult when he finally had to retire from his last job with City of Regina parking enforcement.

Ed was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years, and was a man of great faith. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by us all!
