Lorna Jolly

Obituary of Lorna Alice Jolly

Lorna passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Regina, SK. She was born and raised in Glenavon, Saskatchewan.  Lorna was predeceased by her parents Muriel and Ted Parsons; her three sisters and one brother. Survived by her loving husband of seventy years, Bob; son Glen (Anne); daughter Allison (David); grandchildren Alexander (Rachel) and Peter (Camille); great-granddaughter Leena; and siblings Joyce, Marjorie and  Herb (Adora). Lorna's niece, Bev, and Bev's husband Bosco, were close to Lorna and her family, and the family thanks them for the many hours they contributed to Lorna's care and company later in life.

Lorna joined the RCAF in 1943 and was discharged in 1946.  She then worked at the T. Eaton store in Regina where she met Bob, whom she married in 1950.

Lorna was a lover of arts and crafts.  She was a good seamstress, and made clothing for her children when they were young, as well as baby clothing for needy mothers. Later, she became interested in pottery; giving away most of it to family and friends. Several of her creations are still lovingly used and admired.

Lorna was a lover of nature, with a keen interest in prairie flowers, forests and especially sunsets at Waskesiu in Prince Albert National Park.

Lorna was a kind and warm person, freely giving her time. She taught Sunday school for many years, was a Girl Guide and Brownie leader, and enjoyed spending time visiting elderly people at their homes.

No funeral service is planned, however there will be a graveside service for Lorna's immediate family, in spring of next year. If friends or family wish, in memory of Lorna they may donate to St. James United Church, 4506 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK, S4R 4B4 or a favourite charity.
