Dear Dan and Sylvie,
It is hard to lose a parent no matter our age when it happens. To lose both parents within months of each other is so much harder. I am sorry for the losses you have suffered this year. Please accept my condolences and extend them to your family.
Sincerely,
Jan Devitt

Eugene was one of the finest humans I have ever met. He was for me the perfect mentor/supporter. He left an incredible mark on the RFD. One of his biggest accomplishments was the development and implementation of the original RFD officer’s training program. It was a massive project that improved the entire operation of the department.
Eugene was the complete “Officer and a Gentleman” . Always supportive, respectful and fair. I have missed him ever since he retired.
My condolences to all his family.

Its hard to know where to start on writing this. Unfortunately your Dad & I started carpooling when I started the department - I'm sure to this day he wonders what the hell was I thinking! In his silent, but disciplinary fashion got his message across that maybe, just maybe I should be up a little earlier. Your Mom & Dad introduced us to fostering & we will never fully appreciate their support & initiative in this endeavour. These two people were the epitome of what we should all strive to be! I have had the opportunity to work with many men that were truly "firefighters" Eugene was one of those men.- a brother to all. On behalf of Linda & myself please accept our sincere condolences. Our thoughts & prayers are with you and your family....
