Florence Kessler

Obituary of Florence Kessler

KESSLER, Florence “Flo”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Flo Kessler (nee Gushulak). Predeceased by her husband, Dutch; all her brothers; and her sister. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Carla (Brian), and Cindy (Tony); her granddaughters Raeleen (Dave), Roni (Jon), Melanie (Kashif), and Mariah; and great-grandsons Phoenix, Matteo, and Eli. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Gertie Dorgan and Vi Kessler; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Flo was born in Burgis, SK and attended West Wexford School until she left home at the age of 15 to begin her working career. She worked in Birtle and Winnipeg, MB, and Toronto, ON before moving to Yorkton where she met and married Dutch Kessler. Flo was a hard working stay at home wife and mom, and a loving grandmother who cared for and helped to raise all of her granddaughters and great-grandson Phoenix. She was a lover of music and a wonderful singer who could harmonize any song with anyone. Flo taught herself to play many instruments and continued to sing weekly with her singing group at Wascana Rehab up until 2 years ago. She was also known for her delicious cooking, her skills and abilities as a seamstress and gardener, her sense of humour, and her love of visiting with her family and giving advice and counselling. Flo always gave the best advice, and we took it to heart. We will miss her greatly. We would also like to express our gratitude for the care given to Flo by SWADD home care workers and Parkside Extendicare. At Flo’s request, there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
