Once again, it brings our family deep sorrow to announce the passing of Jeannie. She was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, aunt and a mom to many extended friends.

Jeannie’s family immigrated from Eglin, Scotland in 1927 and moved to Saltcoats, SK with a family friend, Walter Stokes. Jeannie was born to Alexander and Elizabeth Paterson on September 15, 1927. She had older siblings, two brothers and five sisters, also a few stepbrothers and sisters whom her mother raised. Her closest sister, Margaret, passes at the age of 95 on November 7, 2020.

The family was living on a 35-acre farm. Granny was out stooking the field when she came back to the house and went into the bedroom. He neighbour, Mrs. Neil, came and delivered the baby while the other children were in the other room. They came out of the bedroom holding the new baby Jeannie. Granny went back out to the field. The only toy she had as a child was a doll which was made from a black stocking. In 1932 she attended school in a one room classroom at Cherry Ridge School.

Jennie met Arthur Brown and they were married and had the reception at Jeannie’s family home. After Art and Jean were married they resided in Estevan until moving to Regina to work and start their family.

Art and Jean gave birth to their first child, Brian Warren Brown, on November 23, 1961. Brian passed away November 4, 2020. One year and twelve days later they welcomed their daughter, Betty Jean Brown, on December 5, 1962. Art passed away July 5, 1976.

Jeannie had various jobs over the years. She worked in the hospital in Saskatoon, Sears mailing room, babysitting numerous children, ticket booth and gates at Exhibition and Agribition, Army and Navy Veterans Club working coat check, banquets, cook, selling Nevada tickets and had a lifetime membership there.

Jeannie’s hobbies included crocheting, reading, playing cribbage and dancing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She loved animals except birds. We had a family turtle that was in our family over four decades. Goliath was her name when we got her. After I had my son, Mitchell, who walked on tiptoes, Mom changed the turtle’s name to Mitchy. Brian took care of Mitchy till Brian passed away. Brian’s daughter and granddaughters then took Mitchy. His granddaughters gave her the name Myrtle. She got sick and passed December 15, must have been lonely for Brian and Mom. She was 100+ years old.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, sisters and brothers, her husband Arthur (1976) and son Brian (2020). Jean is survived by her daughter Betty and Rick, Regina; grandsons, Mitchell Regina, Curtis Brown and Rachel Stuart (Emmalynn and Addison), Edmonton; granddaughters, Destiny Brown (Nolan), Regina, Leticia and Scott Hurdle, Leduc, Jeanelle George and Partner (Kaia and Joey), Calgary.

Honourary Pallbearers, everyone who knows her.

Love you Mom, Rest in Peace.

Brian Warren Brown

November 23, 1961 – November 4, 2020

It gives our family deep sadness of the sudden tragic passing of a son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. Numerous relatives, extended family members and numerous friends.

Father, Arthur S. Brown of Endeavor, SK (1976) fought in World War II. Mother, Jeannie N. Patterson of Saltcoats, SK. They resided in Estevan for a few years and then moved to Regina where they started their family, Brian and Betty. We had very loving parents and every weekend we would head out of town to visit relatives when they did not come to Regina for visits.

Brian attended Kitchener Elementary from K-8 and attended Cochrane High School which he dropped out after Dad passed away. Brian took the loss of his father very hard. Dad taught Brian how to stucco and plaster. Brian worked most of his life doing that. Brian taught his nephew the tricks of the trade of the family. When he was laid off in the winter he would work as a swamper with moving companies. He always had to be busy and had a heart of gold to all who knew him.

Brian loved working or helping others. He had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He was a good friend to many people he met in his life and will be sadly missed.

Brian’s hobbies included playing cribbage, Skip-Bo and Uno, entertaining friends in the backyard with country music blaring with his friend’s with his homemade firepit burning quite a bit.

One of Brian’s proudest moments happened in October 1985 when he became a father to his beautiful daughter Jeanelle. They lost contact for quite a few years until I found them and told Brian he has two beautiful granddaughters, Kaia and Joey who he never had the pleasure of meeting.

Brian also did his best to care for our Mom until things were getting hard with her dementia and had to put her in a nursing home. Brian moved to Camrose about a year and a half ago to work and be with his partner, Shannon.

Brian will be sadly missed by his Mother, Jean Brown;  sister, Betty Brown (Rick) of Regina; nieces, Leticia (Scott) Hurdle, Leduc, Destiny Brown (Nolan), Regina; nephews, Curtis (Rachel) Brown and girls, Edmonton, Mitchell Brown, Regina. Daughter, Jeanelle George and partner and children Kaia and Joey, Calgary; partner and Companion, Shannon, Camrose, as well as numerous friends and family members.

Rest in Peace Brian, till we meet again.

Love You
