Dr. Robert Babchuk

Obituary of Dr. Robert Bogden Babchuk

Born February 22, 1933 in Yellowgrass, SK to William and Nettie (nee Moisuik) Babchuk. He spent his early years growing up in Wilcox, where he developed many lifelong friendships, with short periods in Strasbourg, Markinch and Bromhead.  Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sunny; his two children,  son Rob and his wife Juliana, grandsons Rhett and Reid of Sunset Cove; and daughter Heather and her husband Brian of Harwood Ontario; and brother Bill of Vancouver BC. Bob graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1961. He began his medical practice in Regina in 1963 at the Broadway Medical Clinic where he remained until his retirement in 1999, when he retired to Sunset Cove. They say when you love what you do you will never work a day in your life and Dr. Bob loved practicing medicine. He had a deep attachment to his many patients and their families many of who he cared for his entire career. Bob loved life at the beach and the kitchen table was frequently turned into a makeshift operating table to sew up many kids and even more adults with various cuts and bruises from Sunset Cove  and Regina Beach. Bob also had a passion for hockey, he was involved with the game in numerous capacities for many years, from coaching to managing, to President of the Regina Boys Community League, as well as part owner of the Regina Pats in the 70’s. In recent years he loved nothing more than getting back to the rink to watch his grandsons play. The family would like to thank the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region Home Care, for their years of faithful assistance and the staff at 4D at the Pasqua Hospital for their gentle care during his last days. Due to the pandemic there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make memorial donations to the Salvation Army, 2240 13th Avenue Regina, SK, S4P 3M7.
