I taught with Nonnee at Ethel Milliken School in the 80's. She was a wonderful person, a great colleague and a dedicated teacher. She was also a computer wiz. I remember her teaching a computer class at Milliken for the teachers. We were using the commodore 64's, and I was amazed at her knowledge and her patience with everyone who was having problems - especially me. I am sorry for your loss. Betty Stirr

Nonnee was simply just a beautiful soul. I am going to miss her smile, her great sense of humor as we fed off each other and could laugh in any situation. She always dressed with style and class and I was always in awe of her beauty, clothes and shoes. Dining together with her and Johnny were the best times, so much laughter recalling many memories of Grandma Garvey, Aunt Sena and Uncle Jack.I will dearly miss u my" Irish Warrior Princess". You were loved and will be in my heart forever and a day!! Much Love cousin Marsha xxoo

We were so sad to hear of Nonnee's passing. She was a true friend (even over the great distance between Canada and Wales). A bright, beautiful, elegant and entertaining woman. Nonnee was full of enthusiasm and ideas, a person who lived life to the full - and an inspiration to all who knew her. I will treasure the beautiful day I enjoyed with Nonnee, John and Linda, as we visited Brecon and Hay-on-Wye in the Welsh countryside. The picture I'm enclosing shows us enjoying a delicious lunch in the Blue Boar pub in Hay. And I will treasure the lovely chats we enjoyed online - about gardening, cooking, the weather and life in general. Nonnee will be missed by all of us. Rest in peace, Nonnee. x Love from Huw, Efa and Linda, from Cardiff, Wales, UK.

I am so very sad to learn of Nonnee's passing. I knew her many, many years ago. We met while working a summer job at Co-op Hail Insurance. I loved her sense of humour; she had a very cutting sense of humour. She was a good friend to me, but sadly we lost touch over the years. My sincere condolences to you. Such heartbreaking news.

We have been friends with John since the early 70's and he was always considered "the catch" but remained single. One day he showed up with this beautiful and sophisticated girl on his arm. Nonnee and John have been our friends for over 40 years. I became close to Nonnee when we both were diagnosed 12 long years ago. Nonnee was such an inspiration as she researched and challenged every treatment available. Dr Z became her ally. She fought long and hard so that she could once again travel and shop. Her zest for life, dry sense of humour and belief in everything right was some of the things she will be forever remembered for. We will miss you Nonnee, rest easy my friend.

I had Mrs. Garvey as a teacher for the 5th grade at Centennial School. I'm almost certain that she introduced me to sarcasm based humor. I thought she was funny, sharp as a tack, and a great teacher, and for lack of better words a real bad ass. I'm sorry for your loss and your families loss.

John, I was beyond heart-broken to have received your call sharing the very sad news of Nonnee’s passing. Nonnee was a beautiful, very intelligent, very witty and passionate friend. The two of us taught together at Ethel Milliken at the beginning of our teaching careers and had many memorable, fun times together. She was the sunshine on a cloudy day, the laughter in times of sorrow and the comfort in times of challenges. Her infectious smile and helpful advice were always welcome and I will miss her deeply. She had to go and I understand. My comfort is knowing that she went to a better place. I can see you dancing in the halls of heaven in those fancy shoes, Nonnee, free from pain with a smile on your face. Until we meet again, dear friend, I know you’ll be watching over all of us.
