Obituary of Eleanor Arleen Dent

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Arleen, on December 17, 2020, at the age of 78. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Keith and Gladys Tweed. Arleen is lovingly remembered by her children, Kent (Barb) Joaquin, Tracey (Gord) Smith, and Joleen (Derek) Pho and forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Jonah, Keifer, Sereena, Eden, Scarlet, Margaux and Ivy. She will be missed dearly by her siblings, Norma (Ron) Benallack, Cheryl (Warren) Rowley, Judy (Bill) Burrell, Valerie (Gary) Hoffman and Gord (Teena) Tweed and many nieces and nephews.  Arleen was born on November 10, 1942, in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, and moved to Regina at the age of 17 to attend teacher’s college.  She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina.  She had a rewarding career as a primary school educator, loved working with children and their families, and retired from teaching after 36 years.  In retirement, Mom worked in a card/gift store and also in a clothing store, where she was able to successfully subsidize her enjoyment of shopping. Mom had a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh, which was especially apparent at family gatherings. Over the years, she enjoyed many lunches, movies and shopping adventures with family and dear friends.  She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time reading and playing games with them.  Mom also had a soft spot for animals and adopted numerous dogs and cats over the years which kept things interesting in her home. Neighbours will remember seeing Mom chase after her cat Mango and faithfully walking her dog Trex while taking time to chat with others along the way. The family wishes to thank Suzan, owner of Parliament Place Care Home, for her love, care and support given to Arleen these past three years.  You gave her joy, laughter and a community to be a part of.  We also extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Pasqua Hospital Emergency Department and the General Hospital Surgical Intensive Care Unit for their care, compassion and support during mom’s final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
