Glenna Melnychuk (nee: Bandura) passed away at the age of 96 years at her care home in Regina, SK. She is survived by her brother Albert; her son Frank (Corean); her daughter Beverlee (Ervin) Wolfe; grandchildren Aaron, Greg (Erie), Jeffrey (Sarah) and Stefan Brewer; two great-grandchildren Tara and Tobin (Greg & Erie); and many nieces and nephews. Glenna was born in Wroxton, Saskatchewan into a farming family where she learned to cook, garden, preserve garden produce and do handcrafts. Mom told many fond stories of family gatherings, social and church events. Glenna married John Melnychuk on October 26, 1947 after meeting at a lumber camp where she was a cook. They moved to High Hill in the Kelvington area where they farmed and ran a store and post office. From High Hill they moved to Ituna to farm for a couple of years which led them to finally move to Regina where they spent their remaining years. Glenna worked full-time, mostly cooking for places such as the Little Bavaria and the Assiniboia Club. In her later years she volunteered at Government House Teas coordinating the kitchen on many a weekend. She spent many hours volunteering at the Exhibition Church food booth as well as working at the Kiev Pavilion at Mosaic. Glenna was a trained and very skilled seamstress and tailor. She sewed many figure-skating outfits and costumes for Ukrainian dancers. She loved doing needlework like Ukrainian cross-stitch, hardanger and spent many hours making Ukrainian easter eggs. Glenna was involved in many organizations such as the Ukrainian National Federation, the Saskatchewan Council of Women, and St. Michael’s Church. It was well known that should you show up at the Melnychuk home in Regina, there would be a warm bed and good food. Many great friends and relatives came through and all were gladly received.  Glenna was at her best when large family gatherings took place. Flowers are graciously declined. Should you wish, a donation in Glenna’s memory may be made to the Saskatchewan Alzheimer’s Society, 2550 12 Ave, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
