It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Lloyd Macknak. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Shalom Care Home in Cupar, Saskatchewan at the age of 93 years. Lloyd looked forward to being reunited in the everlasting life of heaven with all those who had gone ahead, especially the love of his life, Gladys Macknak (nee Mills). He was predeceased by his wife Gladys; parents Lawrence and Tessie Macknak; brother Roland Macknak; sister Marianne Kwasnitza; brother Elmer Macknak; and brother Wilfred in infancy. Left to cherish his memory are his son Tom and Brenda Macknak; granddaughter Shawna and Cory Borsa (Brady, Kyle); and grandson Shane and Kim Macknak (Jenna, Jadyn); and his daughter Ellen and Edward Dancsok; and granddaughters Alissa and Jamie Stewart (Aubrey, Haylen); Amy and Brennan Pusch (Jayce, Evelyn); and Amanda Dancsok. Lloyd was born and raised in Cupar, where his family farmed. He and Gladys remained in Cupar to raise their family. Lloyd was a prominent businessman and contributed greatly to the development of the town, especially the Shalom Care Home, where he spent his last few years. He was deeply community-minded, and he was on many boards throughout the years. Lloyd’s many hobbies included photography, singing in church and town choirs, social dancing, and playing the trumpet in the community band. He was a very involved member of the Knights of Columbus, and he was proud to represent Saskatchewan in the late 1970's as State Deputy, the highest office in the province. As part of his legacy, he was a co-founder of the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation in 1969. Lloyd's strong values, love of family, and faith in God made him a remarkable man. He was a person of great faith, and his relationship with God was important to him. Lloyd’s days always began and ended with prayer. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Cupar with Rev. Francis (Prince) Kurisinkal officiating. Interment to follow in the Cupar Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the ceremony will be held privately for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyd's memory may be made to the Cupar Shalom Care Home, 1308 Assinibioa Ave, Cupar, SK S0G 0Y0 or St. Patrick's Parish, 801 Qu'Appelle Ave, Cupar, SK S0G 0Y0.
