Marjorie Strecker

Obituary of Marjorie May Strecker

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marjorie on Saturday, December 26, 2020. She passed away at the age of 89 years old. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Adam; parents Viola and George Dundas; stepmother Edna Flamand; eight brothers; and one sister, Doris MacPherson. She is survived by her two children, David (Irene) of Winnipeg, MB and Denise (Eric) Schnell of Regina, SK; her three grandchildren whom she loved so much, Ryan, Hayley (Travis) Junior, Sydney (Kayle) Scherer; and her first great-grandchild Miller Rose Junior; two step-sisters, Marlene Blom of Saskatoon and Sandra Stephen of Detroit, MI; two sisters-in law, Minota Dundas and Rose Ruecker. Marge was born in Lewvan, Saskatchewan in 1931 and raised on a dairy farm near McLean, SK. She moved away from the family farm at an early age. Marge met Adam in Regina and years later married him in Vancouver. They started their family with David, a year later moved back to Regina and after several years had Denise. She worked various jobs in her lifetime: being a waitress at the Marina Café, the Provincial Photo lab where she met Mr. Walt Disney, and later a clerk for Sears at the exchange desk and cash office. But her most rewarding job was babysitting her granddaughters Hayley and Sydney. Marge loved to take them to the park, library, and shopping. She had a very special bond with them. In 1974, Adam and Marge built a cottage at Pasqua Lake but later sold it to pursue their desire to travel. They loved to travel. Their trips included Europe, many US states, and Eastern Canada but their hearts belonged to Palm Springs California. They wintered in Palm Springs for over ten years. In 2007, Adam passed away leaving a large hole in her heart. Marge sold the home they built together, and she moved to an apartment. She then moved to a Senior Block and after a couple years and failing eyesight, decided to move into College Park 2. She loved living there with all the activities and good food! When COVID-19 hit the world, her world changed as well. Marge found herself very lonely and uncertain about the future. Her health declined and she struggled more and more with each passing day. She entered Regina General Hospital on Monday, December 21, 2020 and passed away five days later. As requested by Marge, there will not be a funeral. A Graveside Service will take place with immediate family only. Thank you to the staff at College Park 2, along with the staff at the Regina General Hospital for the care that she received.
