I remember when the Legion had a float in the Town of Cupar's parade in celebration of Canada's 150th Anniversary and we had a fair amount of hard candy that we threw out to spectators as we passed by. I would bring out that bag of left over hard candy at every legion meeting and event and Paul would dig and dig through that bag looking for his favourite flavour. Once I was staring at him doing this and with a twinkle in his eye, he said to me, "what? I only like the strawberry ones....Just the strawberry". Well, Paul, may you have all the strawberry hard candy you want. You will be missed, and you will be remembered.

I feel very fortunate that I had the opportunity to have spent some time around Paul some years back. He really had a way of making you feel comfortable, with the absolute best sense of humour. He could make you laugh with nothing more than a “knowing” glance across the room. He was truly special. My deepest condolences to his wife & kids who he so clearly loved so, so much. The loss of this man is truly so heart wrenching. Rest easy, Paul.

It is with great sadness that I write these words today. To Joann, Christopher, Kurtis, and Kyle and family my deepest sympathy for your loss. Over the last few days I have been looking at all the old pics taken, the good times, remembering building our first houses at the same time, European vacation ‘79, and get togethers over the years. Even though sometimes we had not seen each other for quite a while, it was like no time had transpired in between, and we picked up where we left off. Hey Paul, you were a good friend, I will miss you. Tom Henry Parksville, B.C.

I only knew Paul for a short time but he has left a lasting impression on me. From the first day I showed up at that old tired store and I walked into his office (converted hallway) and couldn’t see his desk for paper and junk lol. But we cleaned up that office & that old tired store and then built an awesome new store. I never heard him say it, but I know he was proud of that new store. I am really going to miss him & his crazy Christmas hats. He was one of a kind !! JoAnn & boys my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. So sorry for your loss

Dear JoAnn and family, It is with deep sorrow we learn of the passing of Paul. Please accept our most heartfelt condolences in your loss. He will be sadly missed by many people - friends, neighbours and especially his family, both near and far. Paul was, first and foremost, a dedicated family man, followed by a life of hard work on the farm. Your loss will be felt for a long time but, eventually it will be replaced by a lifetime of the best memories. Cherish those for they are the salve that will give your life much happiness. We love you and look forward to the day we can join you, to hug, to chat about "the good old times" and to reminisce as we do with all our loved ones. The current Covid-19 restrictions & pandemic will pass and we will meet. Take care. Marilyn, Colleen, Colette, their families, and me, Colin.

JoAnn, Kurtis, Chris and Kyle, I have been without words since I heard of the news. Heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you through this difficult time. I am grateful to have grown up with Paul and your family as a bit part of my life, from watching him coach the boys hockey, to hockey after parties at the farm where we had so much fun with no cares in the world to camping together as we grew, I am so thankful and will cherish those memories. I am so thankful to have grown up in the same community as Paul and learn and see what community really was. Much love and light,
Ashley Boha
