Please accept my condolences at this time as I have just learned of Dr. Burmeister's passing. Dr. Burmeister was my German Proff at the University of Regina in the eighties. I was a German major and had the privilege of being his student in several classes. He was a great person and great teacher! My father passed away at the beginning of my second year of studies and Dr. Burmeister was very supportive and kind. He was my adviser for some time as well. I am saddened to learn of his passing.

My heartfelt condolences to Klaus’ loved ones, Val and her family. Klaus was the one who welcomed me to my first interview here. He made me feel right at home and he did prove to be a staunchly loyal colleague. He was fond of playing practical jokes, of which I was often the target. I much enjoyed his sense of humour. I thank him for the fond memories. May he rest in eternal peace.

My heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Dr. Burmeister’s family and friends. I remember Klaus fondly as a colleague and friend. He was fiercely loyal to his friends, his Department and the idea of the university. Thankfully, his commitment to teaching and research included instructing senior administrators when he thought they were straying from their mission. The world is less without him. Murray Knuttila
