I extend my condolences to all of Warren’s family. I was shocked and deeply saddened in hearing of Warren's sudden passing...We were good buddies back in the Brownsburg days and played a lot of football and golf together... Even when we were just tossing a football around in his back yard he would do play by play and being an Ottawa Roughriders fan the names Russ Jackson and Whit Tucker were often in the mix...It was then I predicted he would have a career in sports broadcasting...
We had made plans to meet up the next time he was in the Ottawa area and sadly that was never to be...
You will be missed by many... Woodsy...

My condolences to all of Warren’s family. I remember Warren as a little boy, brother to Karen, Helen, Philip, Paul in his days in Brownsburg, Quebec. His dad was pastor in The United Church there. Even then he had a magnetic personality. All of Brownsburg is saddened with your loss.
Sincerely,
Debby Campbell

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Warren. From that first time meeting him in the fall of 1987 to all the bonspiels, golf trips and of course a few beers along the way - we can never repay all that laughter he brought us over the years. We marvelled too at his astonishing memory for names & events & the great stories he told.
While Woodsy is gone way too soon, we are grateful to have had him enrich our lives. Thanks for sharing him with us.

Our condolences to everyone in Warren's family. We only ever met Anne-Marie and Nicole but heard lots of stories about Son Chris, and his beloved grandchildren. Like a lot of his friends I first "met" Warren by watching STV Sportsline as it was a staple every weeknight for me. I was fortunate enough to hook up with him later through curling, golf, and the odd bevy at Houston's East, The Lancaster Taphouse, or Canadian Brewhouse, and considered him one of my best friends. I have read so many of Warrens' friends messages to the Family in the last few days since his unfortunate passing. There is a common theme to them all - Warren was a great person and a true friend to many. There are many memories I could share about good times with Warren, and will be doing so with our buddies, whenever we get together in the future at a local tavern, the curling club or golf course. He had the infectious laugh so many have alluded to, would always add a twist of humour to his stories and was a joy to listen to every one of them. The accompanying picture was taken during the post final game activity after bringing home the trophy at the 2015 Regina Mens Bonspiel. When one of our regular team mates fell ill just before the final game, we asked Warren if he wanted to sub in, as he (not surprisingly) was still in the club lounge after his Team lost out earlier in the day. Of course being the person Warren was he donned his curling gear to help us out. Thankfully we cleaned up the opposition in 4 ends and it was a short stint on the ice after a long hard weekend of curling. Admittedly aversive to, and never great at sweeping, Warren threw the Lead rocks (the Team's "setup" rocks he would say) but then was mysteriously missing for most of the rest of the end. This was a topic of conversation many times after that. Warren, May you make that 1st hole in one, and many more perfect guards. Rest in Peace Friend. - Bill & Janice Weppler

We met “Woodsy” once in 1993. Went on a Dash Tours trip with him and Ron Rimmer to Winnipeg to watch the leafs. We had 2 buses. Woodsy and Rimmer were on our bus and our bus heater had quit. It was a cold bus ride but they made it the better bus! We listened to woodsy on our bedroom radio everyday! Loved listening to his take on sports, his rants and of course his infectious laugh! Goin to miss that laugh!

Thoughts and prayers are with all of Woodsy’s family and coworkers over the years. I bumped into him a number of times and he always made you feel like you knew him for years. I always admired his knowledge in all kinds of different sports and when STV got going, you had to stay up and watch Ron Rimer and Woodsy, who always made sportscasting so much fun, but yet professional. Thanks for all the awesome memories and that infectious laugh. RIP

I will forever treasure every single moment of our wonderful friendship and am deeply shaken by his passing. My sincerest sympathies are extended to his loving family.

I have known ‘Woodsy’ for many years but perhaps one of my fondest memories of him dates back to 1989 and his days at STV. There was a gathering of friends at Ron Rimer’s place to celebrate a colleagues birthday. After a few ‘pops’ Woodsy and Ron thought it would be a good idea to set of some fireworks in the back yard. With the help of a few others, they lined up a long row of fireworks to set off. After they lit the fuses to the some of the fireworks, Woodsy thought that some of them needed to be adjusted so we could all get a better view. In doing so he inadvertently knocked over some those fireworks which were already lit. The fireworks started to fly all over the back yard sending everyone scrambling for cover as they bounced off the fences and the house creating a spectacular view for all. One of them even made it inside Ron’s house and exploded inside his kitchen After all the fireworks had ended (in more ways than one) there was a moment of total silence. Woodsy was then heard to say “Well there’s something you don’t see every day “. Woodsy thank you for all the memories you have given us. You will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Sincere and very heartfelt condolences to the Woods family. I watched Woodsy on TV in Thunder Bay while I was in college. We finally worked together co-hosting the CJME Morning Show while anchoring sports and news. He was an amazing talent on-air, even more so off-air. The early morning hijinks, that infectious laugh! We loved the Leafs together, but couldn't see eye-to-eye on baseball; his Yankees, my Red Sox.
Woodsy, I am better for having met you, better from our friendship. May your blessings continue on that curling sheet or golf course in the sky, my friend, as much as I was blessed in this world knowing you.

It was in the 90’s and I had entered a draw on STV for a trip to watch the Edmonton Oilers hockey game. I missed the phone call saying I had won the trip because of being out of town and where I was didn’t have access to STV at the time. Upon my return I was heartbroken to learn that I had missed out on a great opportunity as a kid since they drew the next name in line when they couldn’t reach me. I remember speaking to Warren over the phone who wanted to make it up to me somehow. He made time for me to come down to the station for a tour and some STV swag. It a moment I never will forget and is even more special now today that he’s gone.
RIP Mr. Warren Woods

Nicol and Chris, please accept our deepest sympathies at your father's passing. I shared the broadcasting community space with Warren for almost his entire career in Regina, though we never worked together directly. I admired and respected him greatly, and like everyone else, I liked him a lot. He left a great legacy for your family.

I worked with Woodsy at CJME, where he was beloved. He held court in the newsroom, telling stories and having a laugh. Oh, I think I’ll miss that laugh the most. He was the life of the party, whether that party was in Rawlco’s halls, Craven or the Lancaster. It was a privilege and a pleasure to know him.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Warren on the National this evening. I first met Warren in Kapuskasing, Ontario in January 1979. He was a DJ at CKAP Radio and I was just starting my first job in broadcasting as the News Director. Initially, I don't think he liked me. But, we soon bonded over sports trivia which I was pretty good at.BTW, he was outstanding. I had something to do with him getting his first job in TV Sports at CFCL-TV in Timmins, Ontario. Several months later, he helped me get hired as a TV reporter at the same station. Later he moved to Thunder Bay and then to Regina. I moved to Ottawa, Toronto and then back to Ottawa. He had a connection to Ottawa and he would call me occasionally when he visited. He was a great broadcaster and I enjoyed his company as a friend. My sincere condolences to his Saskatchewan friends and his family.
