Obituary of Raymond Joseph Rambow
Raymond “Ray” Rambow, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the age of 84 years. Ray was predeceased by his parents John and Sara; sister Margaret; and close brother-in-law Con. He is survived by his loving wife and life-long partner of 61 years, Elaine; his son Jeff (Troy Olson); daughter Rhonda Rambow-Carsten (Les); and his granddaughter Sarah. Ray is also survived by his sister Rita of Fort Qu’Appelle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. He was born and raised in Hodgeville, SK, where his love of sports was born. Ray attended primary school in Hodgeville and, more importantly, first caught the eye of Elaine. So began their life-long commitment and bond. Growing up in Hodgeville, Ray worked on the family farm and was heavily involved in baseball and hockey. For high school, he moved to Regina to attend Campion College where he competed in baseball, basketball, track, and hockey. Ray was a very talented athlete. After Campion College, he joined the Regina Fire Department and began his career. Along with being a Firefighter, Ray pursued involvement in his love of sports including coaching baseball for years with the Columbus Boys Baseball League. He was also heavily involved in hockey being a coach and team manager of Bantam and Junior teams for years. In 1973, he became President of the Regina Boys Community Hockey League. Then in 1975, Ray took on the role of Executive Director for the Saskatchewan Amateur Hockey Association, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. Throughout his life, Ray was a dedicated and loving family man. Always quick with a joke and a wink, he had a wicked sense of humour and loved to laugh. Summers spent at Echo Lake with his family were a huge part of his life and he treasured the “happy hour” time with his many friends and all the family gatherings. Ray especially cherished time with his darling granddaughter, Sarah, and was thrilled to have her in his life. He will be missed greatly and always in our hearts. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Flowers most gratefully declined.
