Obituary of Jefferson Nicholas Tonita
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jeff Tonita on Monday, February 1, 2021. Jeff was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, step-dad and step-grandfather. He loved to spend time with family and didn’t miss a chance to dance especially to the Footloose tune where his shoes went flying and was joined on the dance floor by his sisters Della and Marlene who had already kicked off their heels. Jeff loved taking Julie and his grandkids on picnic road trips on the spur of the moment. He was a huge Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and always enjoyed game day with family and friends. Jeff was predeceased by his mother Mary Tonita in 2000 and his brother-in-law Stan Cabylis in 2019. Jeff is survived by his sister Marlene Cabylis, niece Angie (Adam) and nephews Jimi, Tyler (Kristen) and Zach (Kristie); sister Della (Doug) and nieces Patricia and Christina (Jason); and great-nephews and nieces. Jeff will be fondly missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his step-daughter Sheena (Cody) and step-grandchildren Callyn and Ally as well as his best friend Julie. Jeff was so loved and will be missed by all who knew him and his kind loving nature. He had many friends and co-workers that will miss his big smile and laugh. The family of Jeff would like to thank the Emergency Services and the Cardiac Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital for their care during this difficult time. They also extend their gratitude to Fr. Spiro for his guidance and special thanks to Jeff Christiansen and the staff at Speers Funeral Chapel. Due to Covid 19, there will be a celebration of life this summer when protocols allow. For those so wishing, memorial donations in Jeff’s name may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, 110-1525 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K1Z 8R9.
